Welcome to the Blog!

I’m so glad you’re here!

It's a pleasure to welcome you to my little world and share a little more about my journey so you know who you’re working with :) Strap in, because it's been quite the ride from the teeny tiny town of Lompoc near Santa Barbara to the sunny beaches of California and now to the desert landscapes of Arizona.

I spent my entire life on the picturesque California coast, from San Francisco to San Diego, living in apartments that were smaller than a shoebox. But here's the kicker: I loved every moment of it! You see, I've always been a dancer at heart, even delving into the world of competitive Olympic weightlifting, rock climbing, jujitsu, and circus training. Yes, you heard that right - circus training! I was all about pushing the limits of my body and relishing the thrill of mastering new skills.

However, my athletic life took a turn when I became a mom to my adorable first born daughter. I had something called placenta previa and doctors filled me with fear and told me not to exercise, move my body or even contract my abs EVER (which makes no sense at all looking back). I was literally scared to MOVE. They told me I could rupture my placenta and harm myself and the baby. Mind you I had JUST gained my strength back after having a miscarriage.

Suddenly, the days of testing the boundaries of my body took a backseat to the joys and challenges of motherhood. It was a beautiful transformation, but it's safe to say that even after two babies, I’m still on the journey of recovery after and embracing this new role.

So, where does all of this lead? Well, it all began way back in 2010 when I stumbled upon the world of health and wellness. You might know my story - a persistent left knee issue that no one seemed to be able to fix, despite trying every imaginable treatment. I'd reached a point where I was conducting stool samples, acupuncture sessions, and even conversing with Chinese doctors in Chinatown, San Francisco, who didn't speak a word of English.

Then, a game-changer entered my life. My boss at the time, took a chance and worked on my right elbow, which miraculously relieved my left knee pain. You can imagine my disbelief and, to be honest, a bit of frustration (ok a LOT of frutration) that something so simple had eluded me after 4 long years of searching.

That moment changed everything. It ignited a passion in me to make health accessible, understandable, and relatable. I was determined to ensure that nobody had to go through what I did, feeling overwhelmed by the complexities of the medical world. You don't need a white coat to make a real difference in someone's life, and that's what I'm here to prove.

And to anyone who's ever felt intimidated or out of place, remember, you're exactly where you're supposed to be. One of my first health courses was a nerve-wracking experience, sitting amidst experts with multiple PhDs and Olympic-level athletes. I felt small, but it's important to know that we all have a place in this journey. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting, you belong here.

So, here's to embracing the adventure ahead, making health simple and accessible, and being our best selves every step of the way. Stay tuned for more, my friend, I will be dropping cool, interesting and QUICK blog posts one time a month to see what you think and how they resonate.

As always, stay curious and be weird 👀 🧠 - Missy
